The Round
Table Class
The Round Table Class of Bart's Centenary United Methodist Church has been
in existence since 1970. It was formed as an alternative to the adult lecture
class that at the time was the only adult Sunday School class offered at
Centenary Church. The class met in the Upper Room and its first members sat
at a round table. Most of the members at the time were young adults with
small children. Often, newborns accompanied their parents to class. Materials
used in the class covered a variety of topics form current issues such as
abortion and capital punishment to studies of various religions such as Islam
and Buddhism and to in-depth studies of the Bible. Now the Round Table Class
meets in the Parish Hall; the round table is gone, and the majority of the
class can only remember being young adults! Class members are still encouraged
to share in open discussion and to tolerate differences of opinion. Bill
Kelly serves as their leader. Membership is not limited to age, gender, race
or economic status. There's always a cup of coffee, an empty chair and a
friendly smile waiting... Please drop in and see if this class is for you!
